My career path has been quite long and winding as we’ve moved around the Southeast. Below you will find a highlight of the places I’ve worked throughout the years. I wrote these descriptions as sort of a dialog of the progress of my path, I will also place a link to my resume if you want to see the “cliff notes” version. Scroll down further for a list of recent projects I’ve been working on and completed. Feel free to contact me with any questions or offers. Putnam-Greene Financial Corporation 2016 – 2017 System Administrator With the recommendation from the Federal Reserve Bank, I was officially moved to the holding company for all four banks in order to increase IT support at the network level. Officially I am performing the same job functions as before, but I am on a different org chart. I still continue to support everyone at all locations with their everyday needs as well as perform the job duties of a sys admin. Some sample duties are listed below, but my day is not limited to these: The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and sister banks. This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle. Farmers & Merchants Bank 2014-2016 Information Technology Officer Upon the reference of a friend, I accepted a position at FMB in Eatonton, GA. I was to support the daily IT activities at a bank with two locations but was quickly asked (and expected) to support four banks with eight locations. Many duties are that of a sys admin, desktop support, network admin, pretty much anything computer related in the entire corporation. With only four IT staff, I have plenty of opportunities to learn and expand my knowledge base. I was able to reduce the cost of all four websites being outsourced from over $100,000 per year to just over $200 a year by bringing the web hosting and maintenance in-house. I was added to the marketing committee to help with the sites and social media oversight. I redesigned the logo to promote a cleaner, professional, marketable brand to create a In two years I reduced the number of servers in-house from 22 to 8 by upgrading old units and outsourcing several functions. This number will be reduced again over the next six months. I support close to 20 servers and 200 PCs at all locations. Phillips Family Medicine 2003 – Present Office Manager / Chief Information Officer Upon moving to Eatonton, GA my wife quickly realized the best way to proceed with her career was to open her own practice. So, we did just that. Starting from the ground up we built PFM and have seen it grow exponentially from day one. My role is to handle all of the business functions of the practice while my wife focuses her attention on patient care and building a healthy community of families in our area. I also maintain the website and social media presence for the practice. Of course, all other IT functions are my responsibility as well. We adopted eClinical Works as our EMR from the beginning and have never looked back. Throughout the years I have also helped many other doctors get setup with ECW by installing and configuring their networks to maximize their time and efficiency as physicians. Some of these offices were new startups and some consist of several locations that are all connected together. I have helped many doctors with a turnkey solution to beginning their medical careers. Gatewood Schools Inc. 2002 – Present Technology Coordinator / XC Coach Upon moving to Eatonton, I spoke with the headmaster at Gatewood about employment opportunities since there is little industry in such a small town. I accepted a job consisting of teaching computer classes and a personal finance class to high school students as well as overseeing all technology related tasks as well as coaching basketball and cross country. The first project I completed was physically connecting all building on campus and installing network infrastructure for connectivity to all classrooms since there was no network in 2002. My computer two class took on the responsibility of redesigning and maintaining the school’s website. Since then the entire campus is now covered by a wireless network as well. Including the BYOD devices, the GatorNet network often grows to nearly 500 devices in use during normal school hours. In 2010, we migrated from an on-premise server to Google Apps for Education. All classrooms are equipped with SmartBoards and many teachers utilize mobile devices and handhelds to enhance the learning environment. I also monitor and maintain a firewall with content filtering to maintain the security of all devices on campus. Techknow Gurus 1997-2014 Owner / Lead Guru For decades I have supported various clients with their technology needs. I officially opened a storefront at beautiful Lake Oconee to support small businesses and local customers. My main clientele consisted of churches, law offices, medical offices, and schools. Our customers were located throughout the Southeast. A few services the Gurus offered included installation, network design, general troubleshooting, repairs, sales, social media campaigns, web design and hosting, security, backups, training and more.
