What I Do
Phillips Family Medicine
2005 to Present – Upon moving to Eatonton, GA my wife quickly realized the best way to proceed with her career was to open her own practice. So, we did just that. Starting from the ground up we built PFM and have seen it grow exponentially from day one. My role is to handle all of the business functions of the practice while my wife focuses her attention on patient care and building a healthy community of families in our area. I also maintain the website and social media presence for the practice. Of course, all other IT functions are my responsibility as well. We adopted eClinical Works as our EMR from the beginning and have never looked back. Throughout the years I have also helped many other doctors get setup with ECW by installing and configuring their networks to maximize their time and efficiency as physicians. Some of these offices were new startups and some consist of several locations that are all connected together. I have helped many doctors with a turnkey solution to beginning their medical careers.
Farmers & Merchants Bank
2015 to 2017 – Upon the reference of a friend, I accepted a position at FMB in Eatonton, GA. I was to support the daily IT activities at a bank with two locations but was quickly asked (and expected) to support four banks with eight locations. Many duties are that of a sys admin, desktop support, network admin, pretty much anything computer related in the entire corporation. With only four IT staff, I have plenty of opportunities to learn and expand my knowledge base.
I was able to reduce the cost of all four websites being outsourced from over $100,000 per year to just over $200 a year by bringing the web hosting and maintenance in-house. I was added to the marketing committee to help with the sites and social media oversight. I redesigned the logo to promote a cleaner, professional, marketable brand to create a
In two years I reduced the number of servers in-house from 22 to 8 by upgrading old units and outsourcing several functions. This number will be reduced again over the next six months. I support close to 20 servers and 200 PCs at all locations.
2002 to Present – We moved to Eatonton, GA in 2002 and I accepted a job at Gatewood Schools as the Technology Coordinator, HS Teacher, JV Basketball Coach and Cross Country Coach. For seven years I taught several computer classes as well as a Personal Finance class. I instructed and led a team of students in physically wiring the entire campus with cat5 cable and installing network equipment to create the first ever campus-wide network. My computer 2 class redesigned the website and kept it updated on a weekly basis. They also competed in a state-wide web competition each year and consistently won awards for their work. Currently, I continue to coach and provide computer support for the teachers and staff.
